Dahlia ‘Deuil du Roi Albert’ affectionately called “Dwee Doo” is a beloved heritage variety dating back to 1936. Named in honor of Belgium’s much-loved King Albert I, who died in 1934, its French name translates to “Mourning for King Albert.”
Still popular throughout Europe, this dahlia is admired for its elegant blooms, showcasing royal purple petals delicately tipped with white. The intensity of the white accents can vary, creating unique floral displays each season. Easy to cultivate, ‘Dwee Doo’ generously produces 4–6 inch flowers, blending historic charm and modern garden appeal effortlessly.
