A Heartfelt Thank You & Important Notice Regarding Our Sales!

Thanks to all who ordered from our Pre-Sale and Seasonal Sales!

Our website had a hard time keeping up with the rush of orders during the recent seasonal sale and almost crashed. Fortunately, our site admins were able to identify the issues and solve them firsthand. We are incredibly lucky and grateful for these members of our Dahlias NZ team who kept everything running.
 
In the three years we have been running our sales online, we have continued to see an increase in demand and orders. We are truly grateful to our customers for helping us achieve such high volumes—thank you so much for your support!
 

## An Important Note on Payment & System Security

While we only offered bank deposits as the form of payment for this year’s sales, we have come across a highly concerning issue with certain orders.
 
We have detected multiple orders that appear to be repeats from the same customers/users over the past few years. When we have approached these accounts regarding non-payment, the individuals contacted do not remember placing any orders on our website at all. We have also found accounts attached to entirely fake phone numbers and addresses.
 
We believe these are fake user accounts or automated AI bots placing artificial orders. This is highly disruptive because it locks up precious stock, reducing the online inventory available for some of our rarest and most sought-after varieties.
 

## Standing Firm Against Business Disruption

Lately, the dahlia growing community has increasingly felt like a cut-throat business. Some online sellers across New Zealand have reported receiving hurtful comments and abusive messages on social platforms. While we at Dahlias NZ try our absolute best to remain neutral and stay far away from such drama, we can now see that deliberate disruption is happening to our ordering system as well.
As a group of growers, we refuse to let these fake orders ruin the experience for real gardeners. Because we believe fake accounts or automated bots may be placing orders to intentionally lock up precious stock, we are strictly enforcing our payment timelines:
 
* 7-Day Cancellation Rule: Any order that remains unpaid without communication after 7 days will be automatically cancelled. The tubers will immediately be returned to our website stock so real gardeners can purchase them.
* Account Flags: Accounts that repeatedly place orders and abandon them without contacting us will be restricted or blocked from participating in future sales.
 
If you are a real customer who placed an order and intends to complete it but have experienced banking issues or genuinely want your tubers but haven’t been able to complete the deposit, please contact us via email immediately to clear up your order status.
 
Tubers stuck sitting in unpaid, uncommunicated orders could have gone to another passionate gardener who really wanted them for their garden this spring.

🕵️‍♂️ How the “Mystery” Happens…

For those who have been with us from the start, you might remember our history:
    • Year 1: 1 free mystery tuber per order.
    • Year 2: 1 free mystery tuber per order + 1 extra for every 5 tubers bought.

To be completely honest, during the absolute frenzy of getting everything moved, organized, and onto the site, we had a few accidental spills. Labels dropped off, and a bunch of premium tubers fell out of their bins during shipping.
The good news? They are perfectly healthy, high-quality tubers—they’ve just lost their names! That means we have a massive stash of premium, unlabeled mystery tubers to give away.
📝 How to Solve the Mystery Next Summer!
The clumps that lost their tags have been carefully divided and numbered. We will be posting a separate page on our website soon listing these exact numbers.
Once a variety blooms—either in our garden or yours—get back to us with photos of what you think it could be! Together, we will solve the mystery and update our official listing with the true names. Be sure to write down the mystery number written on your order page (which arrives with your tubers) so we can match your beautiful photos to the right number!

(Tip: Please occasionally check your email spam or promotions folders as well, just in case our automated tracking and update emails end up there!)

We plan to start shipping your pre-Sale & Seasonal Sales orders very soon. As noted in our pre-sale Terms & Conditions, we wait to dispatch until the weather warms up enough for the “eyes” to pop up and shoots to start. This guarantees we send you only healthy, viable tubers that are ready to plant and thrive.

  • Guest Checkout Enabled: You no longer need an account to buy but an email and address will still be required for successful checkout. This will speed up your checkout and keep our web server running smoothly during the rush.
  • Missing Confirmation Emails? If you do not receive your order details immediately, Contact us: dahliasnz@gmail.com with your name and shipping address. We will manually retrieve your order the following day once the opening-day chaos settles.

Our gardeners have diverse tastes, so you’ll find a wide range of dahlia varieties available on our website in the coming week. While we strive to showcase as many options as possible, please note that we primarily offer what our growers have in excess. Not all varieties may be listed, as availability is based on the surplus tubers our growers can share.
