🌸 Important Information – Dahlia Tuber Pre-Sale 2025

Terms & Conditions for Dahlia Tuber Pre-sale.
Please read the details below carefully before placing your order.

1. This is a pre-sale only.

We are a group of growers based in different regions, so while some varieties are already in winter storage, others are still in the ground and will be lifted, divided, and checked in the coming weeks. This pre-sale reflects an estimate of what we hope to have available, but it is not limited to what may become available after a full stock-take is completed at the end of the season.
Orders will begin shipping Early Spring estimate dates – Late September to early October, once tubers start to show visible eyes or small shoots. This process helps ensure you receive viable, healthy tubers.

2. Orders are shipped in the order they are received & Paid for.

We recommend ordering early to secure your favourite varieties—some are very limited in number and will be supplied to pre-sale customers first.
We’ve added over 80 varieties that are new to the website this year and hope to make them all available. However, availability depends on how well each variety stores through winter.
Placing a pre-sale order guarantees you first rights to the tubers and also gives you first choice of replacement options if any ordered varieties are unavailable at dispatch time.

3. We do not combine shipping by default.

If you place multiple orders, please let us know in the order memo section or via email before dispatch begins. While we can’t guarantee it, we’ll do our best to combine them where possible. If there’s a difference in postage already paid, we may add extra value to your package to account for this.

4. Tuber availability is based on our best estimates.

If a variety does not store well or fails to produce viable tubers, we will contact you to offer a refund or replacement. You also have the option to pre-select what you’d like us to do in this situation by clicking & adding this link to your cart before heading to checkout. We appreciate your understanding—this is a natural part of working with live plant material.

5. Tuber shapes and sizes vary.

We offer DAHLIA TUBERS FOR SALE, NOT CLUMPS – Please google these terms if you are not sure what they mean.
Some Tubers are large and plump, others small and slender—this often depends on the variety. All tubers will be checked for firmness and a visible eye before shipping. Even small or oddly shaped tubers can grow into strong, flowering plants.
As growers, we encourage you to treat all tubers with equal care and give them a fair chance. Some varieties may take a season to adjust to your growing conditions, so we recommend giving each dahlia at least two years before deciding how well it performs in your garden.

6. All tubers are NZ-grown and inspected at multiple stages.

We do not import tubers—all have been grown by local, experienced gardeners, and most varieties have spent at least two years or more in our gardens.
If you find any tubers with possible rot, please contact us immediately via email: dahliasnz@gmail.com
While we guarantee our tubers are free of Leafy Gall and Crown Gall, other viral or bacterial diseases may still affect them—just as they can with any other plants in your garden. We strongly recommend practising good garden hygiene and maintaining clean tools and beds for the best results and healthiest blooms.

7. If you have any concerns about your order, please contact us within 48 hours of receiving your parcel.

Include clear photos where possible to help us assess the issue quickly.
For full details on how we handle refunds or replacements, please refer to our Refund Policy for further details.

8. Storage after delivery is your responsibility.

We’ll include basic care tips with each order, but we recommend storing your tubers somewhere indoors in a warm, dry place until you’re ready to plant. For best results, we suggest starting them off in small pots indoors, then transplanting them into your garden once the weather has warmed up and conditions are more stable.

When your parcel arrives, unpack the tubers gently and place them horizontally in a small container just large enough to hold their full length. Cover them lightly with the mix/ dust they arrive in from inside the brown bags to help prevent drying out.

9. Payment Options

Updated Payment options for ongoing Sale – 12pm 5th June 2025
All payment options now available

For this pre-sale, we are only offering bank deposit as a payment method. We believe this is the safest and most reliable option—and it helps reduce technical issues during high-traffic times on the website.

Unlike card payments, which temporarily reserve stock while the payment is being processed through the card portal, bank transfers lock in your items at checkout. You’ll receive an email with our account details, and your order will be held while awaiting payment. This avoids issues where high demand causes carts to empty mid-payment due to stock updates.

We will allow up to 7 days for your payment to clear. Although we normally process orders based on when they are placed, in this case orders may be influenced by the order payments are received.
There is a 4-day grace period to allow time for payments to come through, but payments received after that may result in your order being pushed further back in the dispatch queue.
Unpaid orders will be cancelled after 7 days, and customer accounts may be suspended if multiple unpaid orders occur.

We’re offering this method to give everyone a smoother experience during the pre-sale checkout.
Please only place an order if you intend to complete payment—thank you for supporting local growers.

10. Agreement to Terms

By placing a pre-sale order, you confirm that you have read and understood the information above.
These terms are in place to ensure transparency and fairness during the pre-sale process. If you have any questions or need clarification, please contact us before or even after placing your order—we’re happy to help.

Your support directly helps passionate local growers preserve and share unique dahlia varieties across New Zealand. Thank you!
